Imayana

OUR STORY

For more than twenty-five years, our inspiration has come from something much deeper than a safari itself. It comes from family, from the people who raised us, from the stories we grew up hearing, and from the land that has always felt like home.

Imayana is a Maasai word meaning “blessing.” For us, that meaning is deeply personal.  It is what we received from those who came before us: their knowledge, their friendships, their respect for the land, their love for people, and the warmth with which they welcomed others into their lives. These are the things we grew up with. They shaped who we are, how we see Tanzania, and, most importantly, how we believe a safari should feel.

We have had the privilege of working alongside families, guides, chefs, camp teams, drivers, planners, and so many wonderful people who bring a safari to life. Along the way, we have built friendships and trusted relationships that have grown far beyond the business. Many of the experiences we create today come from those relationships, from people who know us and trust us.

For us, a great safari might be the excitement of seeing your first elephant in the wild. The laughter around a campfire. A quiet moment as the sun disappears behind the hills. Sharing a meal under the stars. Sitting with a local guide and listening to stories about the land. Or the unexpected kindness of someone you have just met, yet somehow feel you have known for years. These are the moments we remember. The moments that make us smile long after the journey is over. The moments that turn a trip into a memory, and a memory into a story you tell again and again.

A safari is not just a journey, but it is also a connection to the land, to the wildlife, to the people, and to the stories that make Tanzania so extraordinary. We want our guests to experience Tanzania not simply as visitors, but with a sense of wonder, belonging, curiosity, and joy. To share it with the families who travel with us. To introduce people to the Tanzania we know and love. To create experiences that feel personal, genuine, and full of life. And, in time, to pass that same blessing on to the generations who come after us.
